Leading the Way: Visionary Award Winning CEO Roy Nieto

4TellX is pleased to announce co-founder Roy Nieto has been named one of the Top Educational Visionaries by the Global Forum and Educational Learning organization. Mr. Nieto has spent the last 27 years working in education to improve the lives of low-income students. His dedication to improving education for all stakeholders reflected through his work through SureScore, and most recently, 4TellX, which placed him in the category of Top 100 Educational Visionaries.

Mr. Nieto launched his career in education at the age of 26 when he started a college preparation company, SureScore, focused on serving school districts with high percentages of low-income/first-generation college applicants. Roy knew that this particular population of students is often unprepared for the demanding college admissions process. They compete against families who spend thousands of dollars on test prep and private college admissions consultants for admissions and scholarship opportunities.

Over the last 27 years, SureScore has experienced success as a company and success with its mission. As CEO, Mr. Nieto successfully guided the Austin, TX-based company's expansion across multiple states and landed on Inc. Magazine's Fastest-Growing Companies for four consecutive years. More importantly, SureScore has worked with nearly two million students to help them pursue their college dreams.

More recently, Mr. Nieto partnered with a group of scientists to develop an Artificial Intelligent platform designed to help school district administrators gain more in-depth insight into their decision-making processes around students and teachers. The result of this partnership is a company called 4TellX, and their goal is to transform education by pushing all levels of data collected by school districts and allow the AI to answer their questions more quickly and more accurately than ever before.

"I am very flattered by this award," said Mr. Nieto. "I spend most of my time thinking about how to improve the lives of students and how to make the job of teaching and learning better and easier for teachers and administrators. As educators, we have to do a better job of using data to make faster and more accurate decisions for students. The days of ‘let us pick an intervention and see if it works at the end of the year when students take their state assessment’ are over. We are helping school districts evaluate interventions in 30-45 days to pivot quickly if the data shows it is not having the desired outcome. We also know different strategies work with different students, and AI provides schools with the ability to deliver personalized education, like medical science delivers personalized medicine. It is an exciting time to be in education."

With a more scientific approach-driven approach to educational management, educational institutions can combine historical data with current data, so important decisions about student performance, budgeting, resources, and staffing can be made in a timely and accurate manner. Because of their predictive analysis, interventions become proactive rather than reactive, which not only saves time and money, but it supports student success.

"As an adult, I often feel fortunate to have completed my educational journey. I played sports and had engaged parents who were highly involved in my educational experience. I wonder what would have happened if that wasn't the case. I wonder if I had been quiet and didn't play sports and didn't have constant advocates fighting for me and pulling me through the process, how different would my life be today? My personal goal with 4TellX is that we will find those brilliantly amazing students who fly under everyone's radar. As we collect more data over time, we can prevent, or at least minimize, those students who fall through the cracks", says Roy Nieto.

White Paper: What Educators Don’t Know, And Why It Costs Them Billions of Dollars Each Year
By Roy Nieto 04 Jun, 2021
Despite the vast amounts of data collected in education, each year we allow millions of students to fall through the cracks and not achieve their full potential. The data collected is not the issue; the issue is our inability to analyze large datasets and interpret the results. Statistical analysis conducted on spreadsheets is not adequate to analyze large volumes of data that reveal robust insights into instruction or institutional performance.

4TellX offers districts, administrators, teachers, and counselors the necessary information to target students’ academic needs. In the classroom, teachers can use the information gleaned from big data to gear lessons towards students’ problem areas; therefore, students are more successful.
